As a fully natural cat mom, including feeding my cats a complete raw diet, I ever had any success with “natural” flea treatments. My trying them has only led to a worse infestation than I started with so in my opinion, flea preventatives are worth the small risk they present.
My cats are permitted to go outside into a 2,000 sq ft. cat safe enclosure so they are most likely exposed to fleas. Twice a year, Spring and Fall, we Frontline Plus them as a preventative measure and I have never had a flea in my home.
I get mine from my vet but you can buy Capstar and Frontline Plus here which will definitely kill all the fleas on your cat and prevent reinfestation.http://www.drsfostersmith.com/
Use the Capstar right away. It will kill all fleas on your cat with in an hour. Then after an hour add on the frontline Plus and it will keep fleas off your cat for 30 days. No vet visit required and totally safe. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/pr…
Frontline contains fipronil, which spreads via the body oils killing fleas within 24 hours and ticks within 48 hours. Ticks are generally killed before they bite, decreasing the risk of tick-borne disease transmission. Approved for use on kittens 8 weeks and older.
Frontline Plus also contains (S)-methoprene, an Insect Growth Regulator, which prevents an insect from maturing or reproducing. Approved for use on kittens 8 weeks and older.
You can use FRONTLINE flea and tick control once a month and it’s completely waterproof. Provide your cat with the best flea and tick protection, right from the start. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/pr…
Capstar – Treats flea infestations on pets. Starts killing adult fleas on the pet within 30 minutes. One dose lasts 24 hours. Use when pets are likely to be exposed to fleas. Also may be used prior to surgery, boarding, or grooming. Active ingredient is Nitenpyram, which interferes with the normal nerve transmission of insects, effectively killing them. Not a preventive. For pets over four weeks of age. Package of 6.

Take care cat fleas, many products today can eliminate the flea from your cat and in some cases your kitten. Kitten affected with fleas have to be a certain age before they can receive treatment for fleas. The old method of destroying the flea was with a dipping solution, today there are many products that are applied directly between the shoulder blades of the cat. These products work well to rid the cat of fleas. Your home will need treatment with a special formula that kills adult fleas and the eggs.
Safeguard your cat from becoming infested again and your home should become clear of fleas as well because the newly hatched fleas will have no host to live on. The most important thing for your cat health is to prevent such infestation before they happen. Use a commercial flea repellant before the problem starts.

‘Natural’ doesn’t necessarily mean safe. Consider opium.
I’m sure people on here will suggest garlic and whatnot. I’ll just tell you right now, no natural remedy is going to get rid of fleas – they’re far too tough, worse than cockroaches. Do yourself, or rather your cat, a favour and get some proper flea treatment from a vets – this stuff has been formulated and tested to be safe for animals but deadly for fleas. All the chemicals in them are derived from plants so I suppose you can call them ‘almost natural’!
Just stay away from pet store flea treatments. Not only do they not work, they are often dangerous for cats – especially pet store spot-ons.

The only natural way to get rid of fleas that’s safe for cats is an old-fashioned flea comb. Put a few drops of Dawn dishwashing liquid (or a natural one if that’s what you’re using) in a glass of warm water. Comb the cat, then dip the flea comb in the water. Repeat until you’ve covered the entire cat. You’ll need to do this a few times over a course of a week or two. Wash her bedding in hot water as well.
Beware of some of the natural flea products – some of them contain pyrethrins, which is very toxic for cats. So is tea tree oil. Natural does not always mean safe.

You can’t !!!!!!!!!!! Don’t use garlic because it’s very toxic to cats it says this in all the books that I have about cats. Speak to your vet he/she is the best person to ask.I am fairly sure they will recommend you use “Frontline ” it’s regarded as one of the best world wide. Since I first used this on my kitten when he was 13 weeks old he has not had a single flea on him,he’s now 15months. The best thing to get rid of them in the home I found was using flea bombs because they completley fumage a room.I used this too and it got rid of them 100% .

i would suggest a flea bath….or ask your vet b/c fleas are hard to get rid of and honestly i dont think you can…you can definitly lessen them….but fleas obviously dont stay on the cats so im sure after you get em off your cat they will be on em again from the carpet and what not in your home….but that no different than being outside for a human……but a flea bath should be good…fleas die in water…..AND if you cant do it take it to petmart or something……..or if you do it maybe fill the tub first without the cat in there so they dont freak out b-4, then once you have the water bring the cat in and merge him in and its kinda interesting when they feel like there floating….like when we are in a pool and they should calm down maybe but i would honestly ask a vet

A good remedy to keep fleas off your cat is this simple solution: Slice a whole lemon very thin including the peel and add it to a pint of water. Heat this mixture right until the boiling point. Let mixture sit overnight. In the morning gently rub the mixture into your cats fur and skin, just to dampen it, not drench it. Do this once a month. This is a natural flea killer. Don’t forget to wash kitties bedding…Hope this helps

Honestly I have not found a natural product that does a decent job long-term. A bath and a flea comb will get fleas off the animal short-term but it does not keep them off if there is an infestation in the house. I use Advantage on my cat – it is very safe and neither he nor my dogs have any fleas.
Fleas are parasites and can cause flea allergy dermatitis and can transmit worms. I want to use a safe product but it really needs to be effective too.

There are no natural treatments for fleas on your cat that are safe or effective.
Advantage and Frontline are both proven safe and effective. Don’t forget to treat the environment too.

Funny thing-my cats all had fleas in Ca, we moved to Reno and all of a sudden no fleas or tapeworms.
Everyone says they can’t live here and no one knows why.
