I have approximaltely a one acre back yard, and need to rid it of fleas inexpensively. But it must be safe for my dog to be able to be out in it. I am treating the dog and my cats. Also treating the house. But must figure out how to eliminate them out of the huge backyard I have where my dog frequently plays. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I can do to cure this problem. ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated. Desperate!!!!!!

7-dust will work, but it will only work for a brief time. There is flea and tick granules that you can put down, but most of these you will have to treat your yard once a month, and it will have to be watered down to get the granules to get into the ground. The 7-dust is safe with animals, it can also be put on dogs for fleas and ticks, do not know about on cats.

JUst use a spot on. It doesnt kill fleas in the yard but it will kill them on your pet. Frontline and Advantage are the safest. Whatever you do do not use Hartz. It has said to be dangerous

Look on the bag and see if 7 dust is ok to put down with the dog in the yard.. or call a feed and seed store, and ask them. They can tell you about stuff to put on your lawn and it shouldn’t cost you an arm and a leg to get it from them and do it yourself. Good luck, and put a line of tea leaves around your house…an old wives tale that works. It’ll discourage them from coming near wherever it is, and it’s natural.

Spread a good type of ant and flea etc. granules. That is about the only solution. Expenses depends on your yard it ususally runs about 15 dollars a 10 lb bag.
Of coarse remove your dogs out of the yard or section off 1/2 of yard for one day and the other half another day.

Your best bet is to just treat your dog with anti flea-tick treatment. Other than that, call a local exterminator. They will know what is safest for your dog.

It will be impossible, to remove every flee from an acre yard. You can reduce the number of flee substantially, however. Buy a commercially available flee poison, be careful, your children and pets can also be affected by the poison. If your water supply, comes from a well under your property, take this into account before you apply any poison. The poison could find its way into you water supply. Flees have been around forever, and getting rid of them safely, is never easy. Sometimes the best way to deal with flees is to just avoid them, until there season is over.

Get some hot peppers (the hotter the better) and cut down one side so the juice gets out. Boil them. Sift out the seeds, then spray.

Look at your yard. Try to find out where the fleas are coming from. Generally I think they like pinestraw or better yet other dogs. If your neighbors have dogs, you may want to protect that area of the yard from your dog being able to access it.

Growing up, my family raised, showed and bred Pomeranians. Having up to 29 at a time, fleas could have been nuts! What we found that worked was that Sevin or 7Dust… (make sure the stuff you buy is non toxic) What we did was we coated our dogs in the stuff if they were out in the yard, and we also coated the yard in it too…Hope this works!

THE SAFEST MOST INEXPENSIVE WAY IS TO USE ADVANTAGE FLEA CONTROL. FIRST, BATHE YOUR DOG IN A GOOD FLEA SHAMPOO I RECOMMEND ADAMS FLEA SHAMPOO.MAKE SURE ALL THE FLEAS ARE DEAD. ALSO MAKE SURE HE IS VERY DRY. APPLY THE ADVANTAGE BETWEEN HIS SHOULDER BLADES. MAKE SURE THE ADVANTAGE GETS ON HIS SKIN. THREE WEEKS TO THE DAY THAT YOU DO THIS, GIVE HIM ANOTHER FLEA BATH AND DOSE OF ADVANTAGE. CONTINUE THIS UNTIL YOU SEE THE FLEAS DWINDLE DOWN. PRETTY SOON YOUR YARD WILL BE FREE OF FLEAS ALL TOGETHER. ADVANTAGE IS THE BEST THING ON THE MARKET BECAUSE IT IS NON TOXIC TO HUMANS AND PETS, BUT DEADLY TO THE FLEA BECAUSE THE MAIN INGREDIENT PARALYSIS THE FLEA’S MOUTH AND THEY CAN’T BITE THE DOG WHICH MEANS THEY CAN’T REPRODUCE AND WILL EVENTUALLY DIE.
