My cat has very bad flea allergies and I can’t seem to get rid of the fleas. I use frontline advantage but a week later I will notice more fleas. Advantage didn’t work at all on him. I have used the fogger in the house and that barely worked. Is there a better medicine out there and a better way to get rid of the fleas?

You can buy Capstar and Frontline Plus here which will definitely kill all the fleas on your cat and prevent reinfestation.http://www.drsfostersmith.com/
Use the Capstar right away. It will kill all fleas on your cat with in an hour. Then after an hour add on the frontline Plus and it will keep fleas off your cat for 30 days. No vet visit required and totally safe. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/pr
Frontline contains fipronil, which spreads via the body oils killing fleas within 24 hours and ticks within 48 hours. Ticks are generally killed before they bite, decreasing the risk of tick-borne disease transmission. Approved for use on kittens 8 weeks and older.
Frontline Plus also contains (S)-methoprene, an Insect Growth Regulator, which prevents an insect from maturing or reproducing. Approved for use on kittens 8 weeks and older.
You can use FRONTLINE flea and tick control once a month and it’s completely waterproof. Provide your cat with the best flea and tick protection, right from the start. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/pr
Capstar – Treats flea infestations on pets. Starts killing adult fleas on the pet within 30 minutes. One dose lasts 24 hours. Use when pets are likely to be exposed to fleas. Also may be used prior to surgery, boarding, or grooming. Active ingredient is Nitenpyram, which interferes with the normal nerve transmission of insects, effectively killing them. Not a preventive. For pets over four weeks of age. Package of 6.

your problem is that your carpet is still housing the pesky little buggers. go to petsmart or petco and buy a carpet flea cleaner and follow the directions. Than give your cat a flea bath and than after he/she is dry put on the advantage, if your cat is a big guy than the dosage may not be good enough, if you go into the vet they will say that after nine pounds your cats needs a bigger dose, thats what they told me. So read the back of the package and find out how much of the stuff you would put on a large dog and use that dosage. But make sure you kill the carpet fleas otherwise nothing will work. good luck.

Both of the vets I use for my 5 cats have recently told me that Advantage is safe to use weekly rather than monthly on cats with flea allergies. It is the safest flea treatment for cats on the market. I work for an entomology professor in agricultural research, and we use products containing imidacloprid (active ingredient in Advantage) so I have read the MSDS on it and know that it has an extremely low toxicity in mammals. Ask for your vet’s opinion. Be careful with foggers. They may be toxic to your cat. Again, I suggest discussing this with your vet to find a safe solution. Good luck and please post an update if you find a solution!

well frontline i use to.. and it works but to kill the fleas wash your cat in dish soap.. that’s what i do to all four of my cats and three dogs then i would fog the house dont set it there and let it do it’s thing walk around with it and spray everything then i would put seven dust on all the animals and my yard and i have no fleas with my seven pets good luck.

I use “Revolution” once monthly on two cats and don’t have fleas at all for the last three years.
I can’t imagine what kind of fleas you have that can survive “frontline advantage” (<---which one did your vet prescribe?) but if they are not killed by that then Revolution may not work either.

I like Advantage. I put it on my cat and it works. If it is doesn’t on your cat then it is best to go to the vet and tell him/her about your problem.
