I have 2 small yorkies who caught fleas about 2 months ago. Since then, we’ve treated them monthly and even flea bombed our house. The vet tried to tell me that wasn’t enough (i think it was a ploy for us to buy THEIR products). I just can’t get over the fact that we may have them in the house. How do you know if you do?

Buy Frontline Flea & Tick Killer. Apply as directed.
If you don’t have bites or fleas jumping on you, you have probably killed any fleas in your house. Just use the Frontline as directed for protection against further fleas on your dogs.

The first place to look for fleas is on your pet. When you part the hair, fleas will run the other direction and hide. It might be hard to find the fleas without using a special flea comb.Flea combs are easy to use, but you need to be prepared to dispose of any live fleas that get trapped in the teeth of the comb. So, here’s what you do:
    1. Start with your pet’s head, near the ears. Also check near the tail or under the arms (legs).
    2. Quickly run the comb backwards through the fur.
    3. Then before the fleas have a chance to spring loose, immediately dip the comb into a bowl containing a solution of liquid dish soap mixed into a small amount of water.
    4. Any fleas that were trapped in the teeth will die in the soapy water.
    5. Repeat for as long as your pet will tolerate you dragging a wet comb through his or her fur.
To detect fleas in your house, put on a pair of white knee-highs and walk around in your stocking feet. For some reason, fleas are attracted to white clothing. Plus, they are much easier to see against a white background.

If you have carpets and you feel like scratching, when you look you see little red marks on your legs (below the knee) then you have fleas.
If you don’t or periodically do, then you are winning the battle. I would have the carpets deep steam cleaned. Sure, vets (like dentists) want to make $.

I agree on the ploy to get you to buy their product. If you are worried just go and buy some home spray at the pet store and make sure to spray all the baseboards and cracks in the floors. If they are hiding that is where they will be. But after 2 months I am sure they have all died.

Leave something like a white cotton towel or white paper towel along with a small desk lamp turned on at night next to where the dogs sleep.
Fleas are lured to light and white objects.

Your vet knows best. Wait until you vacuum your carpet then get it shampooed. All the hidden eggs will hatch and devour your ankles! Cheap is not always the best way to go..you’ll see.

If you have carpet put socks on and walk around then you would know by looking at the socks and they must be white.
