Treating burns on a dog is almost identical to treating a human burn. It's vitally important that whilst you can react quickly and provide immediate first aid, a vet should be called in all circumstances to professionally treat a dog with burns.

– Initially you should clean the infected area with a cool damp cloth.

– Remove any foreign objects such as hair, grit or dirt.

– Immerse the burnt area in cold water and hold it to there as long as possible. Be aware that the dog is not going to like this as the area will already be very painful and the dog will have a natural desire to treat the wound himself by licking.

– Calm the dog by talking to it and stroking. Make sure you a very careful in touching the burned area as any pain the dog receives now will be associated as coming from you.

You should call your vet and seek their advice as soon as possible.
