i want to train police dogs would i have to join the police to then get into it or can i go straight into it?

    You could do it both ways. Either way though, it’s going to take some time. You could spend years getting onto the police force and then several years getting assigned to the K9 unit, then spend a few more years working your way into the trainers position.
    On the other hand, you could try and get hired by a vending kennel like Adlerhorst International (Riverside, California), Vohne Liche Kennels (Indiana), Universal K9 (Florida), or Tar Heel K9 (North Carolina) and spend years working your way up through the ranks to the point to where you’re assisting with their “new handler” academies.
    Don’t let the time line discourage you from pursuing your goal. There is nothing like working with these amazing animals.     Like to be a K-9 officer? they train their dogs and their dogs go home with them at night, like they are part of the family.
