My boyfriend and I have 2 siberian huskies, 1 irish wolfhound and 2 cats, which all somehow picked up fleas. We’ve started adding in a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in with every bowl of water that gets drank, but when does it take effect?

Not very long. I tried with my husband, the nerd. But yeah, it works. Hum….. maybe, 4 days or more. If your lucky, you will see results earlier. It also works if you put vinegar and other medications in your dogs ear, but i don’t suggest that unless your pet has ears infections.

To speed things up, you can also apply apple cider vinegar to your pets skin as follows:
For minor flea infestations, try washing your pet with a gentle shampoo, followed by a thorough rinse then spraying on apple cider vinegar diluted with an equal amount of warm water. Allow the pet to drip or shake dry.
The fleas will drown in the soapy shampoo water and the vinegar rinse will acidify your pet’s skin making it very unattractive to other fleas and ticks.

I have never heard of using apple cider vinegar to get rid of fleas.  What I have done that does the trick is using Brewers Yeast tablets.  You can get them at most pet stores (Pet Smart, etc.)  I see you have large dogs.  You have to give the dog one tablet for every 10 lbs. But they also make tablets to give one tablet for every 50 lbs. Those are the ones I use.  I have also used the the stuff I get from the vet in liquid form that you put on the dog between the shoulder blades at the base of the neck.  That works incredibly well.  Your vet also carries a lower dosage for cats.Back to the Brewers Yeast, I’ve been using that for years and got that remedy from my father.   I can’t say it works for cats because I don’t have any.  My vet says the tablets are great for giving a shiny coat. Kind of like a vitamin supplement. Hope this was helpful. Thanks for asking.
