How is it possible that I wouldnt notice the fleas in my house or on the cat itself? Our vet said he found ‘flea dirt’ on my cat, which is evidence that my cat has fleas. It doesnt make any sense to me, especially since fleas are normally such a pain and it’s usually very evident when you have them.

Does your cat also go outdoors? If so, then it’s very possible your cat has fleas. Fleas are quick little critters and hide very easily in a cats fur. You can check certain areas of your cat, such as between his/her toes, armpits, etc. . . places that are nice and warm for fleas to hide. Once your cat has had a large enough infestation, you WILL begin to notice them both on your cat and in your home. Try putting some Revolution or other flea repellent on your cat. Once they get into your home, they are very, VERY hard to get rid of.

Easy to find out. Place a dish of soapy water near a light source over night. If the water is clean in the morning, you don’t have fleas, if you find them drown in the water, time for a flea dip and house flea bombing.

it is possible to have fleas even though your cat is indoors, fleas will hitch a ride on your shoes, clothes to get inside, the water bowl with a light is a good idea, worked for us

Fleas make their way inside very easily. They can come in with you, through holes in screens or when the door is open. Any little opening will do. They are searching for warm-blooded animals, including humans and pets and will make their way inside if they detect a warm-blooded animal. If there’s flea dirt, there’s fleas. Use Frontline Plus or Advantage monthly and get rid of them fast before you have a major infestation.

My brother lives in the Seattle area and has an indoor cat but has a HUGE problem with fleas. They actually come in through the windows and have infested his cat and his carpets. So YES, it is possible. Maybe you don’t have very many but it could potentially turn into a huge problem. You are going to need to take care of it right away so it doesn’t get worse.
