Short, sweet and totally uncomplicated – here is a very, very quick and effective way to teach a dog the all important sit command.

When your dog is walking on the lead happily, you can now teach your dog the "SIT" command,

Start off walking to heel, then choose a quiet place to stop and place your hand on your dogs back ( just above the pelvis) and apply gentle but firm pressure to your dog to make him/her sit.

As you are doing this say "SIT".

Soon you will be able to dispense with the lead and your hand.

It's important to remember that even the most intelligent dog can't speak English, therefore, you must say "SIT" over and over again while making your dog sit so that he/she can understand what you mean.

That's really all there is to it.
