  1. Totally Unbelievable

Are you kidding?? How do you not know that the dog is licking your face all night ?? You taking sleeping pills before bed or something ?? Don’t let the dog sleep with you if you sleep that soundly.. What if he starts to gnaw on your arm???

It means that your dog is getting into your bed with you, which is not appropriate.
Excessive licking on your face is a sign of submission; a good thing.
I would respectfully suggest you read a couple of books and watch some videos on raising and training dogs. Also, I recommend two TV shows, “The Dog Whisperer” with Cesar Millan on the National Geographic Channel, and “It’s Me or the Dog,” with Victoria Stillwell, on Animal Planet. Both programs are very instructive and often deal with the issues you raise here. Good luck!

My dog sleeps in our room, in our bed. It’s not that bad. He will get off the bed when I tell him to. And he has a bed on the floor that he will sleep in if I tell him he has to. But we dont mind the dog in bed with us (however, he is very small and doesn’t take up much space). But the only time my dog licks my face in the middle of the night or early in the morning is to tell me he has to potty. He knows he cant pee in the house so he has to wake me up so I can take him out. It started when he was a puppy when we were housebreaking him. Now he can usually hold it all night, but on a rare occasion I am still “licked” awake.

I hate licky dogs like that! Put him on the ground every time he starts doing that. He’ll catch on that if he licks he can’t be on the bed. Also only let him on the bed when you tell him to. It should be a privilege for him.
    Consider crate training too.

your dog needs to be put into a kennel or a crate at night- he’s licking the salt off of your face that your skin makes (oil & salts, etc)
but put him in another room or somewhere not with u at night
