I need a way to get rid of fleas on my cat and in my home and yard. However my son has allergies and I can not use any type of chemical to do this. I need something natural that will kill the fleas and not make my son sick. It doesnt have to work over night it just needs to work.

I would recommend Frontline. You can buy it from the Vet or from Pets at Home. It is recommended by vets and it is excellent. You can use a fine flea comb to make a parting in the cats fur, around the neck, and you squeeze the liquid onto the skin. You only need a small amount. I know other people who have allergies to chemicals and they have all been fine so I’m sure your son will be too.
And hoover daily around the house and on the furniture to remove any eggs.
    Best Wishes.

I have found the best way to get rid of them is to regularly comb the cat with a flea comb and when I get a flea, I kill it by cutting it in half with my fingernails. By using the flea comb, you can also see if your cat still has the flea poop in their fur which tells you that he/she still has fleas.
I have also heard that if you put a little vinegar in the cats water and they drink it that they will give off some sort of odor that repels fleas as well. I tried but I think it takes a bit to figure out correct formulation that your cat will drink but will be strong enough to enable them to give off that odor.
Also, keep the house clean in the sense of vacumming and sweeping floors. If you think of fleas as lice on cats you will see that you need to keep up checking things just like you would if your child got lice.

I have tried a lot of products to get rid of fleas. Nothing has worked and everything was a waste of money until I got Frontline, Advantage, or Advantix. These products work! They get rid of the fleas on the animal and your home. Since this product goes on the neck of the cat and is soaked into the skin – would your son have a problem with it? Maybe he could not pet the cat for a couple of days until the product dries? I do not know of any natural remedy that will kill fleas. The flea and the flea lifecycle is a very hard thing to kill. These products do both – kill the flea and the flea lifecycle.

A vet told me once that the best way to rid your house of fleas is your VACUUM CLEANER and WASHER !! And it works!!!
Vacuum, vacuum, vacuum,,,,,,, everything, the carpets, couch, chairs,,, Wash all the bedding, yours and the cats. Between the vacuum cleaner and the washer and dryer, you can rid your house of fleas. It takes time to get them all and you MUST THROW AWAY THE VACUUM BAGS EVERYDAY (outside your house).
I vacuumed three or four times a day for about a week, washed all the dogs bedding and my bedding and the kids bedding,,, It worked,, no more fleas in the house.
You still have the fleas on the cat,, bathe her with Dawn dish washing liquid (original, blue color) and then apply Frontline, it is expensive but I find it works the best. The Dawn will kill the fleas and the Frontline will kill the ones that bite her for a month.
Now for the yard,,, if you want no chemicals, thats a tough one.
However, I didn’t treat my yard at all, just the dogs and the house. I found that with the vacuum and the Frontline I was able to get rid of them and keep them gone without having to treat the yard.
Stock up on vacuum bags (they are cheap), get some Dawn, (also cheap for the value) and the only real expense is the
Frontline,( aprox, $15 per month) but well worth it.
    Good luck,

Hi! I work at a vet clinic and you have a couple of options.
I would recommend something like Program. It’s a tablet that they injest and will work for up to 30 days. They are expensive ~$50 for a 6 pack, but atleast it would work without using chemicals.
Otherwise, you could try Frontline or Revolution – which are topical – but just involve a little ampule that you squirt between their shoulder blades. I doubt that your son would have allergies to it – but if you were concerned I am willing to bet that if you explained your situation to your vet they would be more than willing to keep you cat for a few days for you while the active ingredients are absorbed into the cat.
Frontline and Revolution are both VERY safe products – even animals that are very sensitive to allergic reactions don’t have problems with these products.
Frontline will take care of your flea AND tick problems. Revolutioin will take care of flea, internal parasites, heartworm (yes cats do get heartworm – research is showing this is a very common problem), and ear mites.
You could use Capstar as others had said – but it only works for 24 hours – then the flea eggs hatch and your flea infestation begins again. It’s meant more for the hospital setting (when a client bring us a flea infested animal – we give capstar so that fleas don’t spread to other animals at our clinic- works well since animals usually aren’t there for more than a day).
Flea baths generally don’t work very well and neither do flea collars.
Also know that fleas can transfer Tapeworms to your cat. I would consider treating you cat for tapeworms once you get the infestation under control. You merely visit your vet clinic and purchase a cestex pill (which is OTC).
    Best wishes!

don’t be assholes. this person obviously loves her cat, you don’t just get rid of it without even trying to fix the problem.
